Fuck working hard, work smart: Why consistency is key

At the gym today I had an epiphany.

I worked earlier for an hour and a half and made an easy $300 and now I’m at the gym for another simple and easy hour of working out.

Not that the work or my workout was easy. Far from it, the roof was 110 degrees, and my workout was after I was already dehydrated and mentally tired. Easy is not the goal, it’s just what happens when you show up consistently every day. It is easy because I know what I need to do and I don’t need to go 100% every single day.

As Alex Hormozi has said “I would rather someone go 70% every day for 10 years, than 100% for a few months”.

Your goals can be huge and amazing, but never get too caught up in them that you get overwhelmed.

Often I find when I set high goals like long gym sessions or many jobs and alot of money a day my results are stunted. I get stressed and burnt out after the day or week is over.

There is time for hustle and grind all out but most of life is not that.

Human beings need to be sustainable.

Easy daily achievable goals that we can conquer and push us forward.

And often it really doesn’t take much to achieve excellence.

Realizing I have a top 1% physique yet I workout only around 45 minutes a day and not amazingly hard.

I regularly make $100-200 an hour but I don’t work “harder” than anyone else.

The secret?

I just do it every damn day.

So to you my reader, all I would say is outline your goals. Break down every DAILY action that needs to be taken. Make it bite-sized. Make it SO EASY you can’t help but do it.

James Joyce, Author of Ulysses only wrote 90 words a day, obviously some days he would write more but it was always at a pace he knew he could keep up.

Want to be in shape? -Workout 20 minutes a day

Want to make money? – Make $100, $50, or $20 extra a day.

Want to learn a new language? – Learn 1 new word a day.

Want better friendships and relationships? Talk to one new person a day, or message one old friend in your phone.

Now obviously once you get accustomed to these goals you should absolutely expand upon it. When $100 becomes a piece of cake, start making $200 a day. Yesterday I made $800 but it was only last year I did my first roof and gutter cleaning job and made $120 for the day.

It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish.

Start now, right this second. Thank me in a year.
