“Being a great father is like shaving. No matter how good you shaved today, you have to do it again tomorrow” – Reed Markham
Attention all aspiring or achieved men. Your journey is not complete.
The quote above applies just as much to being a man. Having children biologically makes you a father but you still must earn that title every day. And for those of us who have yet to carry on our legacy with children we must continue to focus on being and becoming great men.
Unlike women, who qualify as being a woman at puberty, there is no such slack for men. And this is a good thing. Women are born with youth, beauty, and life giving power and this fades as they age. Men are born with nothing and must earn our titles every step of the way.
Throughout many cultures across the world, young men often have to ‘prove’ their manhood by performing some right of passage, killing some beast, or committing some act of strength.
In many ways we still have the same viewpoint towards men, we are expected to fulfil some other right of passage on our own and ‘BE’ men, while the number of good men has dwindled and masculinity is seen as a quality to be suppressed instead of achieved.
Not only is this horseshit, but it is incredibly damaging to both genders and society at large.
Masculinity is an essential component of our world just as femininity is equally as crucial.
For our purposes right now we will be discussing how a man can achieve his title of a man. And how he keeps up and earns his title every day.
Step one. Achieve and work on power.
Power is gained through work, the second key component of being a man.
A real man works every day, unless it’s a sunday family day or a very rare holiday. As a man you should feel very comfortable with putting in work somewhere every single day.
A man makes money. He supports his family or works on supporting them every day. There are no days off in this life, and nothing is free or given to a man.
If you have a job, great. Pursue that and take pride in your work.
If you have your own business even better. You have learned how to create money yourself and you know there is no limit to the amount of money and power you can create with the right amount of knowledge and work.
Your work is your purpose in life and your purpose is your work, they are inseparable.
Next, when you are done for the day or before you start your day you must be working on your physical health every day.
A fat and obese person or skinny wimp will have a harder time achieving money and power. No one respects obesity or weakness, and neither does money. Money flows to power and this includes being a man of strength.
Of course there are times when you are very busy at work and with your purpose where you can’t hit the weights every day, this is more than ok, but just make sure to get after it when you can, and on days you cannot workout it is extra important to watch your diet and be careful with what you put in your body.
These steps must be taken every day. This is the basis for all great men. Of course there is some variability amongst successful men but if you are yet to become a man of power start with your money, and your body.
Don’t just take what your father or teachers in school say what to do at face value. Many guys who should never be giving advice are often the ones who speak the loudest.
Listen to your heart and soul. For me nothing feels better in the entire world than coming home from a nice successful day of work or the feeling after a good workout at the gym.
Men are built for this, and men are not born but built each and every day.
Become a man today.
