Yesterday I returned from over a month of travelling back to my good old city of Seattle.
After over a day of flights, layovers and such coming from Europe, my family picked me and my wife up at around 1 pm and we happily got on our way, driving the 30-40 minutes to my house. Only suddenly, we we stuck in what first felt like insane traffic.
Not a single car was moving, and after 20 minutes I had enough.
I got out of the car and I could see what looked like people waving flags ahead.
Sure enough, there was a mob of people protesting the war in Palestine and blocking the entire 5 lane highway going north through Seattle.
Unable to resist myself I ran up to the front lines and shouted my loudest for them to get the hell out of the way, that people are driving here and go protest somewhere else.
I even spoke to the cops who were standing around doing nothing. They said it was out of their hands.
So yes, a small group of people, inconvenienced thousands of people just trying to drive home. The backup was for over 6 miles and let me tell you, those people were not happy.
What an insane place we live in. Where there is nothing done as people are blocking a public highway?
What if there had been an emergency? Someone needing to go to the hospital?
I’m all for free speech and protesting, go do that to your heart’s content. But NOT on the highway stealing thousands of hours from working-class Americans.
That’s who these people are hurting. Not that they seemed to care, half of them were pink hair mask-wearing folk who probably had nothing better to do.
God, I was wishing for tear gas right at that moment. Go protest somewhere else. I didn’t serve 6 years in the Navy Reserve to try and make this country a free place for people to cause a miles-long backup.
Again, whatever you choose to protest be my guest. Just as I am voicing my thoughts here, we have that right in America. War is a terrible thing, but if you really want something done why not fly to Israel and block a road there?
That would be much more effective than standing in the street thousands of miles away making people wait for hours behind your silly flag-waving that really helps nobody.
Maybe I’m wrong, maybe Israel and Hamas will watch the Seattle news and see “Oh dang looks like we upset some liberals over in Seattle!! We better stop right now”.
Forget about it. But I hope those people protesting feel better about themselves with their white knight virtue signaling. God knows they probably haven’t done anything else productive in their lives.
Anyway, that’s about it for my rant. I’ll probably make an accompanying Youtube video about this as for some reason it just really pissed me off. I hate traffic with a passion and taking over 2.5 hours to get home (we were eventually able to turn around and drive backward down the highway) did not make me happy.
Maybe that’s what they want? To piss people like me off, and now I’m gonna somehow join their cause? Very smart indeed.
Thanks for reading, leave me a comment below on what you think about the protests, Peace.
