As a man, one of the worst qualities you can have is being indecisive.
Having to “think about it”
“Talk to your wife”
And in general, just avoid making a decision altogether.
What a disgusting thing to see.
And unfortunately, it plagues many otherwise intelligent men.
It’s a trait of people who will always be told what to do and never think for themselves.
See, as an entrepreneur, as a leader, as a man you do not have the luxury of time to think about things.
You must be able to act on gut instinct.
You need to be able to charge forward and figure shit out.
Not sit back and ‘think’ until the opportunity is lost or the time to act is over.
Opportunities are seized. Not thought about over days and weeks.
Seized is a violent word and it’s what too many men have lost is the ability to be violent with their actions.
To be clear, there is a time for engaged thinking about a problem. A time to decide what the best course of action is.
But if you arrive at that spot where you need to decide to turn left or turn right and you still need to talk it over with your wife?
Business isn’t for you my friend.
As they say, business is war and much like being a General in a war, If your troops are fighting a battle now then you can’t afford the luxury of more time.
You need to make decisions NOW.
Luckily this is something that can be trained back into you.
Schools and parents tried to squeeze it out of us. Telling us we need to constantly ‘ask permission’ and put the decision on someone ‘more qualified’ than ourselves.
That may have made sense at the time when you were younger. But look around. You’re a man now, more than capable of making decisions for himself.
A good exercise to use is next time you’re at a restaurant I want you to glance at the menu and then choose your order as fast as possible. You’re not allowed to change it for any reason.
Look at the available info, make a decision, and accept the result.
Guess what? All will turn out fine.
This will strengthen your decision-making muscles into powerful weapons that can be used against any idiot who needs more time or needs to talk to his wife.
Be confident in what you choose in life. You are the man.
Start making decisions faster and start thinking faster and you will be light years ahead of everyone else around you.
