How to start a roof cleaning business that makes six figures a year.

If you’re like me and never knew that people can get their roofs and gutters professionally cleaned, welcome to the club.

I was 23 years old before I even learned that was even a thing.

As a kid my dad used to make me spread moss powder on the roof and clean the gutters but I never knew that you could make $200, $500 or even $1,000 to clean a damn roof.

Who knew?

It wasn’t until I learned from a friend of a friend that such a thing was possible and once I did I immediately jumped at the idea.

Making even $100 per day was a big improvement.

At the time I had just finished making $12.50 cents per hour at an Ice rink and I think I made $1300 bucks in 2 months working there?

I made more than that on Monday this week.

When done right, starting a roof and gutter cleaning business can be the best and quickest way to start making six figures per year.

Let me explain.

Almost every single house in the world has a roof that likely needs to be cleaned.

99% of people do not want to do this task. Some may do it themselves but I guarantee they don’t enjoy it and usually don’t last at it very long before they hire someone like me and my company to do it for them (smart choice)

As a company that specializes in exterior cleaning, we can do a better job, faster, and save the customer hours if not days of headache.

For this, we can charge a premium price.

Our average roof and gutter clean is around $400. Less if its smaller, more if they want alot of stuff done such as a softwash for the roof or house.

But let’s stick with this math.

$400 for the average job usually takes around 3 hours but to be safe let’s say it takes you most of the day (it won’t once you start to get good).

If you clean roofs just 4 days a week at that price that’s over $83,200 per year.

Not too bad.

Again that’s assuming you just do 1 average job only 65% of the year.

Imagine you start doing 2 jobs per day? That would be a whopping $166,400 per year.

Pretty powerful stuff. But enough math, let’s get into how to actually start doing this.

Step 1 is you really have to make sure there is demand in your area.

Most places in the United States have some sort of exterior cleaning but roof and gutters are best in areas like the Pacific Northwest and the North East where there is lots of rain and trees.

I live in Washington state and everywhere you go you will see roofs piled high with moss, leaves, branches and other crap so you can literally see the need and demand for this sort of business.

But to double check, I would take a look on Craigslist and go over to the services section and see if anyone else offers this service.

If so, great you’re in business.

If not, and nobody offers this you may need to do a little more research. Pressure washing, solar panel cleaning or other forms of exterior cleaning may be better for you.

For now, though we will assume you do have demand and there is work out there.

Sweet. The waiting and thinking part is over.

Time for immediate action. Time to clean your first roof.

This is what I did, I had someone who asked me to clean their roof after knocking on their door offering driveway cleaning.

I had never really cleaned a roof before aside from my dad having me do basic household chores.

But instead of thinking about it, spending time researching and maybe even passing on the job I immediately said “Yes!”.

In the beginning of any business, you must become a Yes man. You need to be the type of guy that can get shit done. Take the plunge and learn to swim once you hit the water.

This may seem reckless, but it isn’t. If you’re a competent man then I won’t insult your intelligence by endlessly preaching that “you can do anything you set your mind to”. But its true.

People built fucking pyramids, dams, skyscrapers. Our ancestors did some goddamn amazing things and you aren’t sure if you can clean a roof?

Exactly.

You can do this and make some damn good money doing so.

So that is what I would say to anyone seeking to start their own roof cleaning business.

Start, and figure the rest out along the way.

I know that isn’t the answer you may want but it’s the answer you need. As a man and a future business owner, you need to become a leader. You need to be able to figure shit out on the fly.

Once you find a roof to clean (door to door, Facebook ads, google, craigslist etc) start immediately.

Clean the damn thing as best you can. You may find you don’t even like the work. This is why I don’t recommend spending weeks or months figuring stuff out. We need to get in and out as fast as possible.

If you like it? Great. Welcome to the business.

If not? Great, you didn’t spend 4 years getting a stupid degree that cost $60,000.

You learned quickly and this will propel you forward very fast in life.

Start and succeed or fail as fast as you can.

Let’s get to it.

P.s I speak way more about this topic in other articles and on my Youtube channel not to mention my private group my Inner Circle where I help people do this exact thing.

Don’t overthink, get started and DO my friend. Let’s go!
